jbelshaw @ 12:54 pm: I got up super early & went to the skatepark in Round Rock this morning. Got there at 6:30am. Had the place all to myself for about & hour, then a younger kid came & was pulling all kinds of cool shit. Talked to him for a bit, he thought it was cool that a fat old guy was learning to skate again. The park is awesome, practiced backside carves in the flow bowl & backside kickturns on the quarter pipe & mellow banks. No frontside. Frontside is scary. The concrete is so smooth & fast, it's awesome. I think i'm going to hit Mabel Davis tomorrow morning. I'm addicted.

I didn't even hurt myself.

jbelshaw @ 12:53 pm: I think Grim is broken. I let him sleep on his place bed last night instead of crating him, and i peeked out at him and he was staring at his shadow on the wall with his nose about 3" from it. Didn't move. Statue.

One year ago this week:
I got text message dumped by Robb Zipp and became a published photographer! (my first picture printed in The Austin Chronicle...of Rhett Miller from Old 97s)

Two years ago this week:
Luke and I went camping / hiking at Enchanted rock...I saw Driver F play for the first time...I was writing a research paper for English Comp and I had a jaw infection.

Three years ago this week:
I played a cop as an unpaid extra in the movie The Insatiable starring Sean Partick Flannery.
I had recently been fired from Whole Foods..was about to sublet my cute little apartment to Rio...and was still reeling from my breakup with Fernie.

Four years ago this week:
Fernie and I were packing and moving from the shitty apartment off Rundberg to the cool place with the loft down south off Banister.

Five years ago this week:
Fernie and I were in El Paso at his Dad's wedding, then I flew to Va to go to my best friend Kym's wedding. I discovered that LJ was too incestuous when Fernie's stalker and The Mule started talking on the phone and eventually dated. I thought I had lost him as a friend.

Six years ago this week:
I was single, living in Arlington, Va with my best friend, drinking to excess on an almost nightly basis and hanging out with my Cousin and his roommate a lot. I saw Superdrag at the 9:30 club and I was saving money to fly to L.A. to look for a job so I could possibly move in with The Mule.

Seven years ago this week:
I was living with my boyfriend Josh, took him out to a big seafood dinner and got my measurements taken for my bridesmaid's dress for Laura's wedding. (I had SHORT dark hair)

possumcowboy @ 07:09 am: This here, is an awesome photo. It was almost even awesomer.
Last night, I attended the Bloomington High School North/Bloomington High School South class of 1988 mixer at the famous Nick's English Hut in Bloomington, Indiana. Right now, astute persons are having an internal dialogue that goes something along the lines of, "But, Lou, you didn't attend either of those high schools." And you're right. I did, however, attend Thomas L. Brown Elementary School and Unionville Middle School, and knew a surprising amount of people from there, as well as Challenger's Day Camp (which I attended every summer for at least twelve years).

This picture is of Me, David Ames, and Matt Stonecipher. Marco Deckard was also in the room but managed to be god-knows-where when we were actually ready to take the photograph. We three (four) are classmates from Mrs. Worland's 1975-'76 kindergarten class. Myself, you already know. David, as you can see, has matured into a quite handsome gentleman. Matt still has the glint of maniacal genius which has been the inspiration of many peers and the terror of many teachers. I'm so glad I went!

six_06 @ 09:05 am: i can see this is going nowhere

my approach to altered art is this:

  • gather as much crap as you can
  • separate it
  • experiment with small bits
  • if that works, do a series of small bits [easier to produce en masse, it's cost effective and time effective]
  • occasionally photo document your progress
  • lament at the amount of mess you’ve created
  • lament further that you’re still nowhere near any clue about where to begin

my room looks as if all my boxes of doohickeys threw up. it’s hard to get “in the mood” when there’s so much mess around me. the good thing is, i know where everything is. the bad thing, i still have no clue where to begin.

i’ve formulate a couple of ideas for several pieces in my head. i suppose i SHOULD sketch them out, as i’m sure that will help guide me in as so much as to what i’m aiming for. this flying by the seat of my pants crap does not seem to apply to this sort of art. i’m a little peeved at that, because i have wings on my butt in practically everything that i do.

. . . . . .

in other news, tim’s asked me to put together a few paintings, a bio and some business cards for him. he spoke to the people over at mosquito cafe and they’re looking for artists to show their work. it’s the first time i’ve had tim handle this part. not that there’s much to it, mind you. we’ll see how it pans out.

tonight i’ll be at fitzgerald’s for The Hates cd release party. woohoo!! [please don't tow my car ... again].

violalee @ 05:45 pm: post
this past wkend we spent in Bellingham. went ot mt. vernon for the Highland Games, and got a crash course on highland bagpipes. sunday was spent on a whale watching cruise, and then dinner at the marina for our anniversary.

6yrs and neither of us are dead yet. although i am finding more and more grey hairs.

BNSF will be over next tuesday. we will drive to OH and work CSX til the beginning of Sept. when husband goes to his MichCon acct. we are hoping that i can get NIOSH and CAAHOC certified during that time. then I will be a) full time with benes and b) audio certified, which opens more possibilites.

there might be some work between oct and the end of the year, but as of now we are planning to do BNSF again next year, provided they dont dink around with the schedule again.

ginagwen @ 03:44 pm: I'm glad I'm going home.
I am sitting at the Denver aiport.  There was a bag just sitting there...it was there for a while. I called airport security. A security guy walked calmly over, touched, then grabbed the bag...then walked away with it.
It was not there when I first walked up to my gate, I went to the potty, then came back, and it was there. I saw no one, and no one has come back looking for their bag. Weird. Thankfully I am going home.

I got to see Danny which I am very happy for, but it was of course too short.
My brother, sister in law, and nephews are coming tonight, but then I got a call that the whole family is coming!! Wow! I don't get in till about 9:30, I hope the house isn't too stinky since I have been gone for a week!
I tried having a Mary Kay party. I invited 19 people...only 1 can come. Bummer. My brother and s-i-l never visit. I was hoping to lure them with promises of having a good MK party. I barely buy MK but I wanted to find a reason so that they would come up. Oh well, I tried. This happened last time, hopefully this time I won't be such a baby. Danny isn't here to comfort me anyway.
Oh my gosh, and I am going to CC next weekend, ugh. No time to myself...I need a vacation from my life LOL!

I heard from a company I had applied for...it was a no. I had hopes for it. Oh well, it just wasn't for me I guess. I will keep trying.

playgirl @ 02:23 pm: MCCAIN: I REALLY DIDN'T LOVE AMERICA - SURVIVAL

1. I haven't been making my usually frequent posts in LJ, or replied to those who took the time to make such wonderful posts in my SCREENED post, because I've been so very busy trying to survive. I go to work full time, and when I get home, I immediately start working on the computer to further my income. It's really frightening to find myself totally and completely on my own in this great big world, with so many little animals and Grandpa depending on me for survival.

Please kids, hold on to your every penny, because times are going to get far worse than we ever imagined.

I need a break, so I am going to take the time to relax and enjoy myself with my favorite people - you kids, by making quite a few posts today about things that have happened to me.

2. The Repubicans continue to fight dirty by continuously run the Michelle Obama video where Michelle says something to the effect that for the first time she's proud to be an American.

I'll follow suit by post this MCcain video over and over again.
